Ramayan re- telecast a TRP topper – beats all previous records since 2015 in the general entertainment category to set an unprecedented high!

For the Indian public, Indian mythology has always been a source of attraction. When news of the re telecast of Ramayan was announced it received an overwhelming response, more so since the timing was opportune too.
During the lock- down period with the television seen as a popular source of entertainment, this news was welcomed by the general public. However, the response that this serial generated came as a big surprise albeit a welcome one.
It was expected that this would generate a good response but the response it generated surpassed all expectations to reach a phenomenal one.


Shashi Shekhar- CEO Prasar Bharati (Doordarshan & All India Radio) India’s Public Broadcaster tweeted that the BARC TV audience measurement set up in 2015 , showed that the recent re – telecast of Ramayan on Doordarshan had grossed the highest TRP since 2015 amongst all the serials telecast in the general entertainment category.
The first episode in the re run was telecast on the 28th of March garnering a huge response on social media. It is being telecast in two daily slots on DD National one at 9 am and the other at 9 pm .Its lead cast has actor Arun Govil as Shri Ram, Deepika Chikhalia as Sita, Late Dara Singh as Hanuman and Arvind Trivedi as Ravana. This popular serial was earlier telecast from 25th January 1987 to 31st July 1988. It was a TV adaptation of Ramayan the Hindu epic and was aired in 78 episodes.
After the first re run episode social media was buzzing with a feedback on the same. People travelled down memory lane to tweet about their experiences from the 1980’S when the show was first telecast then there were emotional tweets, there were tweets that were filled with praise and appreciation for all the actors and it’s Director – Ramanand Sagar.
The re telecast of Ramayan has not only received an overwhelming response but has also set a high benchmark in TRP’s!
