Sanjiv Kumar Lodhi, who is the joint secretary of the Lucknow Bar Association have made claims after the unfortunate incident that the attack was targeted at him as he had complaints about a few judicial officers. Also, as per the locals present at the blast site, the explosion was the result of the dispute between two groups of lawyers on complaints against certain judicial officers. And, the blast is believed to be an attempt for attacking Sanjiv Kumar Lodhi who was present in the court.

10 people threw crude bombs outside his chamber hurting him & two other lawyers, as per Lodhi. He even questioned the security present there & said, “One bomb exploded but two still lay unexploded.” Soon, dog squads & bomb disposal reached the site where the blast took place.

The bomber has been identified by the police as Jeetu Yadav &it was found that the crude bombs recovered from the site were locally made explosives. The Wazirganj police reached the site for investigating the incident further & the police also recovered 3 more live bombs from the spot.

In order to pressurize the government for passing legislation for protecting lawyers, the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has requested the bar associations to decline to work.

The above decision by the council for pressurizing the government stems from similar gruesome incidents that have happened with lawyers in the recent past.

Last year in December, unidentified attackers had opened fire at Bijnore CJM’s court injuring two police officers & killing a man. And, a more recent incident that happened in January this year saw five men beating up lawyer Shekhar Tripathi (32) to death activating more anger among his colleagues demanding justice.
