Several mobile devices have made their way in the market, some have gone to become popular & some were gone with the wind. Recently a smartphone became a success story in the USA, the Pixel 3a. Now, Google looking at the success the phone garnered in the USA is soon coming with another version with Pixel 4a which is going to replace the Pixel 3a phone. Though the announcement by the tech giant has not been made yet but, it is certain to take the step forward.
But, the latest news surrounding the same is that the new Pixel 4a will not be supported by 5G connectivity which is the next generation of mobile connectivity. The reason behind this decision is that the new smartphone is going to come with a Snapdragon 730 chipset. And, the chipset only supports 4G connectivity hence; it cannot feature 5G, as per reports from XDA developers.
The Pixel 4a is a smartphone that is pitched as a mid-range device & the Snapdragon 730 is the chipset that is known for supporting mid-range smartphones like Poco X2, Samsung Galaxy A80, Xiaomi K20, Realme X2 & others that fall in that category. So, 4G connectivity to Pixel 4a made sense as it is also a mid-range mobile device.
Also, the availability of 5G is still away a year or two from now & they may go live in the middle of 2021 in India as per industry insiders. Hence, Google launching the Pixel 4a with 4G is a good deal right now as 5G will anyway take some time to be available in the market.
The smartphone is called ‘Sunfish’ internally & coming summer will become a part of the larger version of Pixel 4a, which is called Pixel 4a XL. This phone will feature 5G & Snapdragon 765 processor as per reports. And both the devices, Pixel 4a & Pixel 4a XL are going to be announced in May at the annual Google I/O developer conference.
The smartphone is touted to give fierce competition to Apple iPhone 9, which will be launched in March as rumours have it.
Although, no such announcements have been made yet for Pixel 4a but, admittedly, it is going to replace it Pixel 3a which was lauded for its affordable price at $399 & an excellent camera performance & battery life.
