A.R Rahman launches a global project “hands around the world “on the 50th anniversary of the World Earth Day

In a novel initiative noted Indian composer, singer and music producer A R Rahman, chose the 22nd of April – The 50th anniversary of the World Earth Day yesterday, to launch his global project titled “ Hands around the world .“  This is a collaboration with Ken Kragen who is the creator of “We are the World ’’ and other renowned musicians and visionaries including Neil Morgan – a tech entrepreneur.

The objective of this initiative is to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change. This is a technology and fund raising initiative

The duration of this project is for a year during which a number of musicians and artists will join in. Pop stars Natasha Bedingfield, soul musician MAJOR, Cody Simpson, Jonathan Cilia Faro who is an opera icon, and Erica Atkins – Campbell, gospel singer are a part of an anthem song.

Other noted names who have supported this one note symphony include Alan Parsons and the Philharmonic orchestra of Israel accompanied by NASA and the astronauts from the International Space Station. 

Rahman mentioned that music from different genres was being compiled in a powerful album that was being prepared. He was optimistic that the combination of technology and music along with the talent of so many incredible global musicians would have a powerful effect on the masses and drive in the key messages on environment.

Neil Morgan is the creator behind the unique app which will use augmented reality and hologram to link one billion people who will be seen as holding hands in a virtual selfie chain.

This project was introduced by AR Rahman on Instagram live on 22nd April.

This initiative is very pertinent in the current COVID – 19 crisis times when people are expected to stand by each other and express solidarity and support.

The song lyrics have been written by Stephen Schwartz has written the song lyrics and the first recording session was held in Los Angeles in February this year.
