All Fool’s Day – the 1st of April is here and this is how you can make the most of it even during the Lock down – read on and get that smile back on your face

The 1st of April has always been looked forward to by all. This is a day people associate with pranks and jokes. This day is a celebrated as a light hearted day and enjoyed by all. This year April 1st is different because we are all in the midst of a lock down and our movement is restricted we cannot be with friends, colleagues and certain members of our family. However it is our endeavor that thorough this column we bring a smile to your faces. But before we do that let us pause for a moment and reflect on why we celebrate April Fool’s day? There are many theories and takes about its origin but one theory mentions that it dates back to the year 1582 when France switched to the Julian calendar from the Gregorian calendar as per the order of the Council of Trent in the year 1563.

All Fool’s Day – the 1st of April

The Julian calendar was similar to our Hindu calendar where the New Year began in April with the advent of spring. Those who did not realize that this change had taken place and instead of January continued to celebrate the New Year right from the end of March to April, became a subject of ridicule, jokes and pranks. This was how April Fool’s Day was named.
