Who doesn’t remember the 1994 classic comedy film ‘Andaz Apna Apna’? People not just remember the movie, but, also the crazy hilarious dialogues of the film at the tip of their tongue.
In a piece of saddening news, the producer of the comedy film Vinay Sinha breathed his last on Friday, 24th January in Mumbai. Sinha had produced many films in the 90s including Rafoo Chakkar, Naseeb, Chor Police & many others but, he was always remembered more as a producer of Andaz Apna Apna. Sinha passed away at Holy Family Multispeciality Hospital, Bandra. His daughter Priti Sinha quoted saying, “He had a heart history but he was working then also. He was hospitalised two weeks ago for stomach ache. He was alright and was going to be discharged yesterday but he passed away in his sleep last afternoon.”
The last rites of the producer were performed on Friday & on January, 28 a prayer meeting will also be held.
One of the first celebrities to give his condolences on social media was Aamir Khan. He tweeted saying, “Saddened to hear about the demise of Vinayji, the producer of Andaz Apna Apna. It will remain one of my most memorable experiences and films. My heartfelt condolences to Vinayji’s family. May his soul rest in peace.”
Soon actor Kabir Bedi too took to Twitter to pay his tribute to the producer; he said, “Deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend Vinay Sinha, who gave Bollywood one of its most enduring comedies, Andaz Apna Apna and gave me a friendship that endured from my earlier days in Bollywood. Eternal love and respect for you.”
There were a few others also who mourned Sinha’s death. Film Analyst Atul Mohan tweeted, “#SadNews Producer #VinaySinha passed away few hours back. Vinay ji is known for producing #AndazApnaApna #RafooChakkar #ChorPolice and TV serials. He was also vice president of #IMPPA. He was presently working on few projects which included sequel of #AndazApnaApna. Om Shanti.”
Famous trade analyst Komal Nahta also tweeted saying, “Vinay Sinha, producer of films like Andaz Apna Apna, passed away a few minutes back. May his soul rest in peace.”
Andaz Apna Apna is a kind of film that can only be made once in a lifetime & such films cannot be recreated on the screen again with the same magic it had 25 years ago. Andaz Apna Apna was a film which was much ahead of its time. The film, at that point, had not captured the zeitgeist of the time. But, it is a film that garnered fame years later after its release.
Last year there were also speculations that Vinay Sinha & his daughter Priti were planning a sequel to the movie.
