The lives of nearly 80M people have been affected as advisories and warnings in the wake of a devastating winter snowstorm have been issued.

In the latest update released by Accuweather, the prominent Eastern cities, including Philadelphia, New York City, Washington and Baltimore are gearing up to brace the harshest and strongest snowfall of the season. There are warnings of blizzard conditions with predictions of up to 2 feet of snow in some areas.

The other challenging weather conditions forecasted were winds between 35 to 50 mph. with the danger of drifting snow, falling of power lines and branches of trees, and reduced visibility.

Gov. Phil Murphy has declared an emergency in New Jersey. This emergency began at 7 pm. On Sunday an additional 2 to 4 inches of snow was predicted. Monday will see a greater intensity in snow across the state, as per the forecast. The National Weather Forecast had mentioned 3 inches of snow per hour. This weather condition has led to the closure of all transits in New Jersey and the six mega-sites for the vaccine.

The Governor mentioned in his statement that the safety of the workers and residents were the topmost priority, and they were cautioned and requested to follow all the guidelines as laid out. They were asked to prepare for natural calamities such as coastal flooding, heavy snow, and high winds in various parts.

The residents were told to abstain from venturing on the roads and keep them clear for the emergency personnel for use.

Mayor Bill de Blasio also declared a state of emergency as incessant snow was forecasted even on Monday. On Sunday night, he urged residents to restrict their non-essential travel.
