Gym in Hackney remains open amidst the current and serious Coronavirus outbreak – owners fined

The new strain of the virus found in the UK has caused considerable panic and fear all across the globe, but in a brazen act of flouting the lockdown rules and social distancing norms, gym owners in a Hackney gym paid scant regard to the rules and breached them by keeping the gym open. A fine was imposed on them.

A fitness center in Stean Street Hackney was reported to have breached lockdown rules and remained open on Friday. This incident was reported to the police and a stock of the situation was taken by them. They found 3 people inside the gym at 0930 GMT and a penalty notice of £1,000 was given to the owners of the gym.

The hospitals in London are filled to capacity as the new and major outbreak is recorded and people had been urged to behave responsibly and cooperate.

As compared with the previous peak, the recent cases were reported to be one third above the previous one.  

The number of Covid-19 Cases it is said are more than 1,000 per 100,000. There was a peak in the pandemic in April 2020 and in the current state there are 35% more people affected by the virus than they were in April.

In the latest figures released by the NHS on Friday, the total number of COVID-19 patients in the hospitals of London had risen by 32 % than the week before. The total number of hospitalized patients is 7,277.

Commenting on the gym incident Pete Shaw Chief Inspector mentioned that although there is no ban on people exercising during the lockdown in public places, going to the gym is like flouting all rules. Those who openly defy rules will have to face enforcement as specified by the law he added.
