Often when we go for a long vacation or are travelling for business meetings to foreign lands where we don’t know how to speak their local language, we often are landed in a helpless situation where we want to enjoy the foreign land but can’t because of the language barriers.

Well, not anymore because Google Assistant has come up with an ‘interpreter mode’ which will help us in situations like these.

This is Google’s AI-powered language interpreter mode that is made available for both Android & iOS users & it comes with 44 different languages that include Arabic, Greek, Danish, etc.

Initially, the Interpreter mode was only available for Smart displays when Google launched it in January 2019 at the interpreter mode for Assistant at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) & now Google introduced the same for smartphones as well.

It is a medium through which you can communicate for translating a language you need help in. Also, most importantly, it translates in real-time so all your foreign trips can have safe landings in terms of dealing with the local languages.

All Android phones already have Google Assistant pre-installed, but iPhone users need to download it first.

You can start using the interpreter by first saying “OK Google” & then get started by saying “Be my French translator”, “Turn on interpreter mode”, “Help me in speaking Arabic”.

After the mode gets turned on start speaking the foreign language & make sure not to use a mixture of both languages alternatively for interpreter mode to work.

Google translates the language with the help of the microphone of the phone & the language that you speak will be translated by the Assistant. And, if users want to stop using the interpreter mode, they can just give a command like “Exit”, “Quit”, and “Stop”.

The interpreter mode works with several other devices as well like Smart Displays, Smart Clocks, Google Home Speakers, tablets & certain speakers with Google Assistant built-in, etc.
