Arvind Sharma and PM Modi’s association dates back to 20 years when Modi was the CM of Gujarat.  There are conjectures of him landing a plum role in UP.

Arvind Kumar Sharma, a former IAS officer, who has been associated with Prime Minister Modi as part of his team even before his tenure as the Prime Minister joined the BJP in Lucknow today.

On January 28, the Legislative Council elections to its 12 seats are due. There is strong anticipation of Arvind Sharma being slated for an important post. He may very soon occupy an important position in the Yogi Adityanath government.

Mr. Sharma, prior to his voluntary retirement this week was serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) at the Centre. His swift and sudden retirement had left many people wondering at his decision. However, now there are talks of him occupying a very important position in the UP government.

Arvind Kumar Sharma is a 1988 batch IAS officer of the Gujarat Cadre and he hails from Mau in Uttar Pradesh. When PM Modi started his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Arvind Kumar Sharma had joined him as Secretary in 2001.

Mr. Sharma has always maintained a low profile and been closely associated with the PM as a trusted officer. His result-oriented approach has won him the trust of the PM, as revealed by leaders within the party.

Earlier on in his career, Sharma served as the Chief Executive of the Gujarat Infrastructure Board. In 2014, after the landslide victory of the BJP, he was appointed in the PM’s office. In the month of May last year, he was transferred to the MSME Ministry.
