The State of Maharashtra has the NCP Shiv Sena combine as the Maha Vikas Aghadi Government.

The NCP spokesperson and a State Minister Nawab Malik said that it was most likely that some Congress leaders had complained to Sonia Gandhi about the budgetary cuts imposed in the CMP during the COVID -19 pandemic. He further added that the members of the Congress coordination committee of the MVA, senior Congress members Ashok Chavan and Balasaheb Thorat were aware of this.

Sonia Gandhi has written such a letter to Thackeray for the first time since the formation of the coalition government. The letter was dated December 14th, in which Sonia has mentioned that certain implementations such as reservations for the tribals and Dalits under the special provision for SC/ST professionals in government contracts should be executed. She also mentioned that she hoped the government would fulfil all stated under the CMP with due diligence.

It is said that this letter has caused uneasiness and tension between the NCP and the Congress, while the Congress was making attempts to dismiss this tension by saying that it should be seen in the spirit of promoting a dialogue rather than initiating a confrontation.
