India’s Covid Cases record a steep rise – cross the 50K mark and stand at 52,987 currently.

Despite lockdown 3.0 currently in place, India’s Covid positive cases have crossed the 50k mark and at the time of this report stood at 52,987. The global tally was at 3,822,860 while the number of those dead stands at 265,075. With this new increase India has jumped to rank 13 in the list of most affected countries by the COVID-19 pandemic so far. This deadly disease has claimed the lives of 1,785 people so far. In the list of most affected states Maharashtra tops the list with 15,525 cases. A sudden surge of cases has been seen in Tamil Nadu, which now has 4,058 cases. In Ahmedabad, a new high had been recorded which necessitated the deployment of paramilitary forces. Till now, Gujarat has been the second most affected state. Although the highest number f confirmed cases are in Maharashtra and Gujarat, the highest concentration of positive COVID-19 cases per million people is in Delhi.

A sharp rise in the number of cases has been recorded in Tamil Nadu too. A large number of positive cases were discovered in the largest fruit and vegetable market Koyambedu in Chennai.

The state of Odisha recorded 20 new Coronavirus cases adding to the total of 205 in the state so far. There have been 2 deaths 61 cured/discharged and 142 active cases currently.

In the global scenario USA continues to be the worst affected accounting for 33 % of the total number of reported cases. The number of cases recorded there is 1,262,933 so far. The other severely affected countries were Italy, which has recorded the number of deaths as 29,684 and the United Kingdom (U.K) which has recorded 30,076 deaths so far and surpassed Italy.

There has been a spike in the overall global tally with a total of 3,822,860 cases and the death toll now stands at 265,076.
