The spate of coronavirus cases continues to increase with no respite and has touched the 1.1 Million mark, killing nearly 65,000 people in the US. The Trump administration is contemplating and evaluating 14 COVID – 19 vaccines as a preventive measure for this dreaded disease. Recently President Donald Trump had made a suggestion of “ injecting disinfectant ’’as treatment for the Coronavirus which had met with a lot of outcry and criticism. The Trump administration is looking at a time line of January 2021 to come up with a vaccine. The “ Operation Warp Speed “ had a total of 93 potential vaccines on its list out of which it zeroed down on 14, eliminating the rest from its consideration. It is said that out of these 14, the list will be reduced to 6 or 8 after clinical trials are conducted which will again reduce further to 3 or 4 in the final round of clinical trials. . Scientists and researchers reiterate that the testing and trial of the vaccine must run its normal course and no short cuts should be taken, because if it is launched too soon without the necessary precautions it may prove to do more harm than good.
President Trump has praised this programme and said that he would personally be overseeing it. Meanwhile a flyover across US was organised to honour the Coronavirus Front Line warriors recently and also as an expression of a message of unity and support for the Health Care workers.

This mysterious illness is accompanied by fever, rash, red and irritated eyes and abdominal pain. This new warning of rare coronavirus complication in children adds more concern and poses a major threat for US and the world at large.
