PM Modi addressed the Nation at 9 am today, through a video message for the first time since the 21 day lock down which is due to end on April 14th 2020
His much awaited speech began by thanking the citizens of India on the stay indoors disciplined support that they were maintaining during the lock down and he also took this opportunity to thank them once again for the applause that they had registered during the Janata curfew on the 19th March Sunday, for the front line soldiers battling the Coronavirus crisis.
PM Modi elicited the support of all the citizens of India with a new appeal and initiative, During this initiative he asked all the citizens to switch off all the lights of their houses at 9 pm on Sunday the 5th April for 9 minutes and light either candles, diyas, or even shine their cell phone lights as a united nation to drive away the darkness of the difficult Coronavirus times.
He mentioned that this unity and solidarity would be very effective in lighting up the path ahead as we come together as ONE strong nation. He said that when 130 crore Indian unite and support this pledge a “Mahashakti “will emerge which will be extremely powerful.
He went on to add that this exercise did not need mass gatherings or people to assemble in the streets or colonies as a joint exercise. This had to be done in each person’s own house, in the privacy of their homes either at the front doors or balconies or windows. He again insisted on the social distancing that had to be strictly adhered to and followed he mentioned that under no circumstances should citizens cross the “ Lakshman Rekha “ set during this current lockdown period .This initiative on the 5th of April at 9 pm for 9 minutes of lighting candles and switching off all lights would be the ultimate step in breaking the corona chain he added in conclusion.
