In the wake of the havoc created by the Covid – 19, IIM – B, as a precautionary measure has asked all its students who have travelled abroad, to get themselves examined urgently by the campus doctor.

Their annual convocation, a much looked forward to and important event at this premier Indian Institute of Management which was to be held on March 20, has been postponed .

IIM-B Director G. Raghuram said  in an internal mail  “In view of the Covid-19 outbreak and the advisories by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the World Health Organisation to avoid large gatherings, we have decided to postpone the convocation 2020 scheduled for Friday, March 20,”

He went on to add that this was based on discussions held with the stakeholder groups and after due deliberations  this decision had been  taken with a view of the safety of everybody in mind.

He mentioned that although the campus was adequately equipped to take care of any emergencies due to the spread and infliction of the virus it was best to avoid such eventualities and exposure, thus minimising the risk for everybody.

It was also mentioned by him that the students would receive communication regarding receipt of their degrees from their respective course offices..

Groups of students who had visited Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Coorg recently were also sent to the campus doctor .

It was also confirmed by campus sources  to IANS that there were  6 students who would be passing out soon and who had visited Holland via Italy recently.

Due hygiene precautions are being taken at the Institute with sanitisers and  auditoriums and public places in the campus are being sanitised before and after events. Work from home options were also offered to the staff in case they exhibited any symptoms like cough , fever and so on.

Till Tuesday the Karnataka Government had declared 4 positive Coronavirus  cases.
