The Coronavirus positive case in Punjab takes the total number in India to 45

A resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab tested positive for Coronavirus recently after his return from Italy. The Punjab Principal Secretary (Health) Anurag Aggarwal went on to add that the gentleman was tracked at Amritsar airport and sent to a government Hospital in Amritsar.
This case is noted as the first case in Punjab for coronavirus afflictions. He was on an Air India flight from Milan and landed at the Amritsar International Airport via New Delhi. He had two other family members accompanying him.


Last week during a preliminary investigation he tested positive for corona and his samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune which confirmed that he was indeed suffering from the corona virus. At present however, his condition is considered to be stable.

The 44th case of Coronavirus was reported form Karnataka earlier and was the first such case there.. The man who tested positive for this disease was an IT professional who had returned from the US to Bengaluru. In the wake of these fresh threats and to avoid more such cases from going unnoticed the government has taken adequate and enhanced safety measures such as thermal screening at all entry points into the country including airports and sea-ports. There are various facilities in place which will isolate and quarantine both suspected and confirmed cases .

The number of coronavirus cases worldwide have reached over 1,05,800, including 3,595 deaths. China has reported 22 new deaths on Monday from this new coronavirus since this reporting started in January. In Mainand China in total more than 80,700 people have been infected in total. However a noteworthy trend is that new infections that are being reported from Hubei have been on a downward trend for several weeks.
