Today marks as one of the most important days & events for India as the US President visit the country for a 2-day programme. Since the time it was reported that Trump was going to visit India, it made headlines right from what would be his schedule, to what he will be served in India & to what he will be talking about in terms of the ties between India & the US.

Donald Trump at the Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad addressed a massive crowd & started his speech by talking about the love & loyalty the US has for India. Further, expressing his admiration for Modi, Trump praised the PM of India by calling him an ‘exceptional’ leader who continuously works for the country. Referring to his modest background as a tea-seller, Trump said how Modi had an easy win at the 2019 Lok Sabha elections & is a living proof that an Indian can achieve anything with hard work.

The US President also announced that a $3 billion worth defence deal would be sealed by the US & on Tuesday, a delegation-level official talk regarding the same will be held by Modi in New Delhi.

Praising how incredible India is as a nation, Trump said, “Namaste, it is a great honour for me to be here. There is a difference between a nation that rises by coercion and one that rises by setting its people free — that is India. India and the US have natural and enduring friendship. As the world’s largest economy, India gives hope to all humanity and has become an economic giant.”

Trump even appreciated India’s riches & cultural diversity & talked about Indian blockbuster films like Sholay & DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) & legendary cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar & Virat Kohli.

Narendra Modi, on the other hand, welcomed Trump to India by saying that ‘new history” is being created. He also said that the US President’s visit with his family to our nation indicates the strong relations between India & US.

Hugging Trump at the stadium, Modi greeted the US Prez by saying, “You are heartily welcome in the largest democracy of the world. This is Gujarat but the entire country is enthusiastic in welcoming you.”

Talking about the name of the event “Namaste Trump“, Modi even explained the meaning of the word ‘Namaste’ saying that it holds a deep meaning & said, “This is a word from the oldest languages of the world – Sanskrit. It means that we pay respect to not only to the person but also to the divinity inside him.”
