Early on in his career Rishi Kapoor captivated the hearts of millions through his boyish charm, his good looks and most importantly his style of dressing. He brought about a revolution in the male dominated Bollywood at that time with his sense of dressing. Throwing sobriety and pastel colours and shades to the winds in his dressing sense, he breezed in with loud and bold colours and items of clothing which were hitherto not seen in his male colleagues. 

He started the trend of long mufflers whether it was “ Bobby “ “ Khel Khel Mein “ or “ Kabhi Kabhi “ the mufflers , the bold satin polka dotted shirts, the bell bottoms  caught on as a craze for the youngsters during those times each one trying to emulate their hero – Rishi Kapoor while the girls were completely  mesmerised by his style.

The bright colours he wore even included pink corduroy pants, a colour which men normally don’t wear but he wore it with style and it rocked.He also started the trend of polo necks, colourful mufflers and satin shirts. Rishi Kapoor set the trend of over -sized glasses too, as early as his first film – Bobby.

Rishi Kapoor was at ease swinging and dancing in over -sized bell bottoms too in the 70’s and 80’d which again become a huge teenage trend in those days.He wore cardigans and sweaters sometimes slung over his shoulders or just tucked in and captured the hearts of his female fans. Whether he was sporting a casual tee with denims or a formal suit he carried both with equal ease and continued to trend in the male fashion domain.

As the actor matured he continued to experiment with his dressing style to suit his roles. He started getting recognition as an actor for his powerful performances but for his million fans Rishi Kapoor will always be remembered for his unique dressing sense and his style.
