Most of us are drawn towards fruits juices, breads and croissants for breakfast, and they look very good on the breakfast table but are they healthy for us as a first time in the morning food?  We must keep in mind that citrus foods can cause heartburn and acidity because of the fruit acids that they contain. Breads are made up of yeast and can cause problems for the lining of our stomach.

However, there are a few foods that give a lot of benefit when eaten on an empty stomach:

We have often heard that warm water and honey had on an empty stomach is extremely beneficial. Here’s why – Honey is loaded with vitamins, enzymes, minerals, and flavonoids which keep go towards cleansing our stomach and when you mix it with warm water it flushes the toxins out of your body.

It is a super food if eaten on an empty stomach. It is easily available throughout the year and can be included in your breakfast. This fruit is extremely useful in flushing out the toxins from the body and lowering bad cholesterol.

If you want a low on calories breakfast then consider – Porridge. It also works wonders for your intestine. It is a very filling food and you will do away with hunger pangs for quite some time after eating porridge.

Another fruit which is good as far as providing a lot of water for your body goes since it is composed of 90% water is – Watermelon.  This also provides a lot of hydration to your body. It helps in preventing cravings for sugar and is low on calories. It has a lot of electrolytes and contains high levels of lycopene and is good for eye and heart health.

The next good option is Nuts.

A handful of nuts are all that you need to keep your gut healthy. You can combine pistachios, almonds and raisins in your breakfast. It helps you maintain a healthy gut, improves your digestion and equates the PH levels in your stomach, but do keep in mind that nuts should be eaten in moderation. If you eat too much of it, it may lead to weight gain and skin break outs and pimples.

The next good thing to eat on an empty stomach is almonds. Almonds will give us the right amount of nutrition while being immensely good for our hair and skin. It also helps in sharpening our brains and keeping us alert and healthy. It is loaded with protein, Omega-3 and Omega – 6 fatty acid, fibres, manganese and Vitamin E. They should be soaked and kept overnight and must always be peeled before eating because their peel contains tannin which prevents the absorption of nutrients in your body.
