Today as an informed consumer we are all aware of the numerous products available in the market for our skin care; however we must also keep in mind that different seasons necessitate a change in our products and skin care techniques.  Although different people have different skin types and which need various types of care however as a general rule these are the effects that the seasonal cycle has on an individual’s skin. With the advent of summer and heat come perspiration and skin that needs regular washing and toning to prevent pimples and clogged pores. In winter with the decrease in humidity, the skin becomes dry and flaky and needs regular moisturising. People with highly sensitive skin need a different skin routine to prevent rashes, redness and itchiness.

Spring time in India is associated with and lasts from March – June. This season apart from the beauty and freshness that it introduces also brings with it the risk of allergies, pollution and rashes due to the pollen present in the atmosphere. Our skin in spring absorbs moisture as a mixture of oil and water therefore whenever you are planning to go outdoors it is imperative that you use sunscreen and if you plan to stay indoors a moisturiser always comes in handy.

During spring a good beauty tip would be to apply a liquid moisturiser before you apply your foundation.  Women who have an oily or combination skin can consider applying a sunscreen gel. A natural product that could help in retaining skin moisture is honey. Honey helps reduce dryness, itchiness and is a product that suits all skin types.

If you have an oily skin then you can use honey after mixing it with lemon juice and egg white everyday taking care to wash it off and not leave it on your face for more than 15 minutes.

Another product that suits all skin types is Aloe Vera gel and its use can moisturise all skin types.

For maintaining a healthy good looking skin, it is essential to wash and cleanse your skin daily to remove dirt and grime and prevent clogging of pores that may lead to skin break outs and pimples.

Acne prone skin can be washed with medicated cleansers. Scrubs can be used effectively to remove dead skin cells once or twice a week depending on your skin type.

A proper beauty regime needs to be cultivated based on a persons’ skin type including the basic steps of cleansing, toning, scrubbing and moisturising.
