It is a very common misconception that skipping breakfast will help you in cutting calories and most people do that.

There could be an increased risk of heart disease

For a healthy lifestyle, breakfast is considered an important meal. Research shows that if you remain in the fasting stage for too long, it becomes very stressful for the body and it has to work harder to cope with this stress. Since the stress leads to metabolic fluctuations in the body the chances of heart problems are increased considerably.

The risk of diabetes is also possible

Long hours of fasting due to skipping breakfast may create an urge to eat a lot during lunch time , thus creating a fluctuation in the blood sugar levels . Insulin intolerance can be attributed to these irregular spikes which may later develop into diabetes.

Weight Gain

It has been observed that ironically you may gain weight instead of losing it if you don’t have breakfast, because you end up taking in more calories during the other meals that you take during the day to compensate for the hunger you feel due to not eating your breakfast and not planning your other meals well. You may indulge in impulse eating just to calm your hunger pangs.

Your metabolism may slow down

When you wake up in the morning your metabolism is slow and by not giving your body enough calories to burn during breakfast your body may become too lazy to burn calories. If this is done for a long time the body loses its ability to burn calories and reduces metabolism. It is said that the morning meal helps in maintaining the metabolism of your body.

It may make you irritable and more prone to anger

An empty stomach may cause irritability, anger, mood swings, low productivity at work and various other harmful issues.

Your energy levels may dip

If you are not well nourished in the morning you may not be able to cope with your daily chores with enthusiasm and energy since an empty stomach in the morning may leave you with low energy levels and the desire not to work .
