There has been unrest in our country since the time the parliament passed the Citizenship Amendment Bill. Lakhs of students from different universities & also other people have come in solidarity to protest the act which talks only about including specific religions& not all in the act.

People trolled many celebrities for not speaking out against the act or give their opinions. Though, there have been many who have come forward to talk about the issue & show discontent about what’s happening in the country.

The latest celebrity to raise her voice against the violence that is taking place on students across various universities for protesting the act is Priyanka Chopra. The global star condemned the act of violence on students peacefully protesting against the CAA. To show support, she took to Twitter to end her silence on the issue & supported the students for fighting this & having a voice against it by saying that each voice counts in a thriving democracy.

She wrote on Twitter, “Education for every child is our dream. Education is what empowered them to think independently. We have raised them to have a voice. In a thriving democracy, to raise one’s voice peacefully and be met with violence is wrong. Every voice counts. And each voice will work towards changing India. #HaveVoiceWillRaise #HaveVoiceMustRaise (sic).”

Many other celebs too took to Twitter to show discontent about the happenings in the country & condemned violence.

Rajkumar Rao openly condemned the violence by saying, “I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy the citizens have the right to peacefully protest. I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!”

Whereas Farhan Akhtar wrote a special note asking people to gather in a protest against CAA that took place on Thursday, December 19.

Hrithik Roshan too condemned the violence by saying that great teachers learn from their students & that he salutes the world’s youngest democracy.
