Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior, a film produced by T-series & Ajay Devgn together is not ready to leave any controversy since the time the trailer of the film was released.

The film is the story of the great warrior named Tanhaji Malsusare, who was a military leader in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army.

This time the controversy is created by the Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Koli Rajput Sangh for which a plea has also been filed against the film in the Delhi HC. The Sangh alleges that the trailer shows distorted facts about Tanhaji’s lineage. It also asserts that Tanhaji Malusare has been revealed as belonging to the Maratha community, whereas in reality, the warrior belonged to the Kshatriya Mahadeo Koli.

The Sangh has also pleaded the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) not to grant the film’s viewing certificate unless the mistakes are rectified. To prove their point they even sent representations of Tanhaji’s lineage to be ensured by the CBFC but the CBFC is yet to respond on the same.

Since the trailer has released the film has been around controversies regarding the representation of the character of Tanhaji, the role played by Devgn.

A few days ago, NCP legislator Jitendra Ahwad too warned or rather threatened the film’s director Om Raut by claiming that the film’s trailer shows the wrong depiction of history & also advised to show facts & not play with history or its characters. Ahwad also warned the makers to make various changes in the trailer & accused them as well for showing the Maratha Warrior in a very wrong manner by inaccurately depicting history.

To add to this, even Sambhaji Brigade pointed out various objections to the trailer. The organisation alleges that the film erases the secular image of Shivaji Maharaj by showing Om in one of the scenes on the Saffron flag. They also showed discontent towards certain dialogues of Kajol who plays Savitribai Malusare.

However in another controversy of the film being also dubbed in the Marathi language, MNS leader Ameya Khopkar supported the film & lauded saying that it must be released in as many languages as possible for showcasing the prowess of Shivaji Maharaj’s army. For which Ajay Devgn took to twitter to thank the leader & the MNS for supporting & allowing the film to be showcased in Hindi & Marathi simultaneously.

It is yet to be seen whether the film gets caught up in any moresuch controversies more than this. Anyway, Bollywood’s other Magnum opuses like Bajirao Mastani, Mohenjo Daro, Padmaavat, etc. also were victims of many controversies because of various Sanghs & groups & their concerns.
