However it is our endeavor that thorough this column we bring a smile to your faces. But before we do that let us pause for a moment and reflect on why we celebrate April Fool’s day? There are many theories and takes about its origin but one theory mentions that it dates back to the year 1582 when France switched to the Julian calendar from the Gregorian calendar as per the order of the Council of Trent in the year 1563.
The Julian calendar was similar to our Hindu calendar where the New Year began in April with the advent of spring. Those who did not realize that this change had taken place and instead of January continued to celebrate the New Year right from the end of March to April, became a subject of ridicule, jokes and pranks. This was how April Fool’s Day was named.
