The 36-hour visit of the President of the US, Donald Trump & his family comes to an end today. After first visiting Ahmedabad yesterday & giving a powerful speech at the Motera stadium about many important matters concerning both the countries India & the US & also talking elaborately about the ties between the two nations, in the second leg of his visit today at the national capital, Trump thanked Modi & Indians for their exceptional generosity.

The day-2 of Trump’s visit started with his ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. He then sat with PM Narendra Modi for discussing important matters at the Hyderabad House & later visited the Mahatma Gandhi memorial at Raj Ghat.

Both the leaders talked about several important matters concerning both the nations. One of them was fighting terrorism together, which was an important topic of discussion during their bilateral talks. Modi issuing a joint statement said, “We(India and USA) resolved to step up efforts to make those who support terrorism, responsible.”

And further talking about terrorism, Trump said, “We agreed to cooperate in dealing with radical Islamic terrorism.”

The leaders even decided to take their relations to a comprehensive global partnership level, inking three MoUs together, one in the energy sector. Talking about the same Modi said, “Today we discussed every important aspect of US-India partnership, be it defence and security, energy strategic partnership, trade or people to people ties. The strengthening in defence ties between India and US is an important aspect of our partnership.”

They further had positive discussions on trade, where they decided to give it a legal shape & agreed on opening negotiations on a big trade deal. The US President announced that they finalised $3 billion worth defence deals with a focus on comprehensive trade deal. They also had extensive talks on 5G technology in telecom, the situation in Indo-Pacific.

In the second leg of his visit to India, Donald Trump at the presidential palace received a tricolour guard of honour. And, lastly, thanking Modi & the people of India, Trump called his visit to India as “unforgettable, extraordinary and productive.”
